Suggestion [not a battle ;)]

Normally I'd post this in 'Feedback...', but because it's just about this board I thought I should do it here.

What if we created a new thread, or, ideally, a subforum of the Battle Arena where battlers, when between matches, could post stories and such about their characters? I just finished my first battle (a draw, because we were both nice, reasonable characters in the wrong place at the right time ), and I started thinking about the whole mythology of the character I created. It gets more and more developed as I use him, and I think it would be cool to write out something that other battlers can look to that is less about stats and more about narrative. Each thread in the subforum could only be started by battlers with approved characters, and you could post your character sheet at the top of your thread. That way, instead of having to sift through countless pages when beginning a new battle, you could just turn to the character thread; not only would you get the bio, but also some sense of the history of these characters, to develop them beyond just the special-super-sonic-ninja-groin-kick-of-despair-which-cannot-be-avoided-or-survived.

And I don't think it would make sense to post your character stories in Fan Fic/Art because they were born for use in this arena, and they are each their owner's intellectual property (as opposed to most fan fic, which borrows ideas from games and things).

Sounds like a good idea to me. I, for one, have been thinking of writing something on Jul 'Kaed. Nothing huge, but a bit of a backstory to his Master and such. The BA is also all fighting, it's nice sometimes to just write about things without combat.

Bahamut had somewhat of a similar idea awhile back. I think it be great to have a subforum like that. I myself have thought of taking some experience I had through battles with Junai and creating a story through that, as well as adding his backstory.

It could also be a place for characters to interact with each other, in a non-lethal environment.

But it seems the BA is a little low-traffic. Maybe its not popular enough to warrent more server space, or whatever.

Yes, it hasn't been as popular as of late. I'd blame school, as most of the people here are in school, and with homework, they don't have enough time to post in the BA. I mean, most posts in the BA take at least twenty minutes to write. I suppose it could also be a matter of creativity running dry...perhaps we could have some special events and contests. Tournaments are fun, but unfortunately, the last one that Kishin organized was closed because he thought there weren't enough people participating.

He closed it because everyone (me) dropped out of it leaving a bunch of fighters standing around with no clue.

No, I'm just kidding. Anyway, back to topic.

Can't help that people have lives other than ZU. It's going to be like this for awhile because of people dealing with school, work, etc. Those that do have the time to battle just have to take this all in stride...and hopefully have patience to wait for the BA to return to its former glory.

Though I still have doubts about that.

Well... let's start something then. It seems like the few of us who are posting in this thread check in the BA enough... why don't we just start something?

What makes the BA good? Tell me this 'former glory' you speak of. Being a recent BA attendee, I'm not up on the state of this board, save what I notice.

I've tried to get subforums for the ba before, it seems that, it isn't going to happen.

Would it be cool to post a Character Story thread, then?

And if the BA is suffering from lack of traffic, couldn't you lobby the Admins for a subforum on the chance that it would increase usage? I'm sure you've tried this before, but, you know, just in case.

Yes, a stickied thread would make sense as well. Perhaps two - one for backstories, and one for conversation, etc. Comments and critisizm would be welcome in both, of course.

I find this a great idea.
Some of my characters are such that need to be able to grow and evolve, witch sometimes can be hard to do during a battle. A place where they could interakt with other characters without trying to kill each other...

That would be FunFUN for all! ^_^'
