Throughout his journey, Link will come across many items that he can
use to defeat the forces of evil. Below are many of the ones he
will come across, and some tips for using them to your advantage. Sword  The sword is your main weapon. Use it to attack enemies and to cut grass. It is said that a very powerful sword and a very special sword are hidden somewhere in the land. In addition, you can use the Spin Attack (hold down the sword button) to unleash a mighty swing that will attack all enemies around Link! Shield  Use the shield to defend against enemy attacks. Some enemies can't be defeated unless you use a shield. Once you find a stronger shield, you'll be able to defend against certain attacks that your regular shield couldn't handle. Rod of Seasons  This legendary wand is said to contain the power of the four seasons. As you acquire the ability to change the seasons, you will be able to enter new paths and solve new puzzles. To use it, simply stand on a tree stump and give it a wave. Seed Satchel  The seed satchel holds your Mystical Seeds. Set the Seed Satchel to the A or B button to use the seeds. Boomerang  The Boomerang returns to you after you have thrown it. It can stun most enemies for a short period of time, as well as retreive far-off items for you. It is also rumoured that there is an even more powerful Boomerang hidden somewhere in the land. Power Bracelet  The Power Bracelet fills your body with strength and enables you to lift stones, pots clumps of grass, and even some enemies. You can also throw these objects around, sometimes in order to solve puzzles. The Power Bracelet also allows you to push objects around that are normally too heavy. Roc's Feather  The Roc's Feather magically makes your body feel much lighter and allows you to jump into the air. Use the Roc's Feather to jump over pits and dodge enemies' attacks. There is perhaps an even better way of jumping hidden in Holodrum. Seed Slingshot  Use the Seed Slingshot to shoot Seeds at distant objects and enemies. Shooting different seeds will produce different effects. If you don't have any seeds, you can't use the Slingshot. The Slingshot can also trigger switches. Legends also spread of an even greater tool, capable of firing multiple seeds at once. Magnetic Gloves  The power of the Magnetic Gloves can pull certain objects toward you or push them away. You may find the gloves have other uses, too. Shovel  Use the shovel to dig holes in the ground and clear away snow. You might be able to find buried treasure, so dig holes in many different places. Bombs  A Bomb blast can damage enemies or blow holes in cracked walls. Press the button to pick up a Bomb, then push the button again to drop the Bomb. To throw a Bomb, simply press the button after taking out a Bomb, as well as a direction on the Control Pad. Flute  Play your Flute to call a friend for help when you need it. If your friend is too far away to hear the Flute, he may not come. Zora's Flippers  You'll be able to swim once you get the Zora's Flippers. Use the Control Pad to swim and the B button to dive underwater. Press the A Button repeatedly to swim faster. Treasure Chest  In dungeons, you'll find many treasure chests that may contain Rupees, items or other treasures. Some are easy to find, but you'll have to solve complicated puzzles to find others. Almost always, the harder a treasure chest is to find, the more important the item contained in it is. Dungeon Map  The Dungeon Map shows the layout of all the rooms in the dungeon. The darkened rooms on the Map Screen are ones you have not entered yet, and the bright ones you have visited. Compass  The Compass shows you where to find treasure chests and the lair of the dungeon's boss. It also makes a noise when you enter a room that has an unopened chest. Dungeon Keys  Keys found in the dungeon can be use only once to open a locked door. You'll need the Boss Key to open the door to the boss's lair. The Boss Key is also usually very hard to find in a dungeon, so search well. Ember Seeds  Flames shoot out of this strange seed when it is cracked open. Use Ember Seeds whenever you want to light a fire. Ember Seeds can be used to burn down small bushes and trees, as well as to attack enemies. Mystery Seeds  You never know what to expect when you use these seeds - a number of various strange things could happen. It's also said that placing Mystery Seeds on particular objects will earn you hints related to your quest. Scent Seeds  Scent Seeds emit a distinct smell that attracts certain monsters and enemies. Not all enemies you meet will be affected, though. These are useful if you want to distract enemies, making them easier to attack. Pegasus Seeds  Rub a Pegasus Seed on yourself to move faster than normal. If you hit an enemy with one, though, the enemy will stop in its tracks. The Pegasus Seeds are useful for gaining the speed needed to dodge some enemies and traps, or to jump over large pits. Gale Seeds  Gale Seeds produce miniature tornadoes when cracked open. These winds can carry you directly to any Mystical Tree you have found. If you shoot a Gale Seed at an enemy, the enemy will be blown away. Magic Rings  The many Magic Rings made from Mystical Seeds have special powers, and the effects of each Ring are different. These Rings can be found throughout the land, but some of them are extremely rare. Heart Container  You start the game with only three Heart Containers. Your life energy increases with each Heart Container you find. Dungeon bosses keep Heart Containers, but you can also get them by collecting Pieces of Heart. You can use hearts to refill your life energy. Piece of Heart  Pieces of Heart are hidden throughout Holodrum. If you find four pieces, it will form one Heart Container. These are quite rare, so search well! Magic Potion  If you have a Magic Potion when your life energy reaches zero, your energy will be replenished. Magic Potions can be used only once, and you can carry only one of them at a time. They are also rather expensive and hard to find, but definitely worth your hard-earned Rupees if you expect to live through some of the harder battles. Jewels  The Jewels are treasures from many centuries ago. It has been said that something will happen once all four of these mystical stones have been found, though what that "something" is, is not known. Cuccodex  The Cuccodex contains all the information known about the Cuccos. A biologist in the village is said to have it. The Essences of Nature Throughout his quest, Link will collect these relics containing spirits of nature. Once all eight are collected, Link will be able to finally defeat Onox.
