Special thanks to Rod Jones of Top Secret Zelda for the enhanced-resolution boss images below.

Ball and Chain Trooper
Image
Agahnim controls all of Hyrule Castle's soldiers, including this strong and skilled fighter.  He guards Zelda's cell and other important areas of the Castle and attacks with a whirling ball and chain.  Use your Boomerang to stun him, and then charge him with your sword.  Throwing the two pots from the other jail cells at him is another good strategy.  Once you defeat him, he drops the key to Princess Zelda's jail cell.

Armos Knights
Image
The six statues guarding the Pendant of Courage come to life as fierce Armos Knights!  Armos Knights can be defeated with three Arrows each. If you run out of Arrows, switch to your sword carefully attack one by one.  If you use your sword however, it will take twelve hits to extinguish a single knight.  Once you destroy five, the remaining Armos will turn a bright red and try to pounce on you.  Move quickly and strike him right when he is above you and he will be knocked away.  A few hits like this and you will win the pendant.

Lanmolas
Image
Three large green sand worms guard the Pendant of Power.  These worms will dive in and out of the sand to try and strike you.  It will be apparent where the worms will immerge from, and that is your chance to place a bomb in the general area.  This is a fast way to defeat them.  However, if you run out of bombs, you can use your bow or your sword to destroy them.  The only thing to be careful of are the rocks that fly across the room as they blast through the sand.  Once you take out all three the pendant is yours.

Moldorm
Image
The gigantic Moldorm is a large yellow worm with five round sections, whose only vulnerable point is at the tip of its tail. This monster is what guards the Pendant of Wisdom.  Stand at a safe distance from the edges of the platform and hold the B Button to charge up your Sword. Once your Sword is fully charged, release the B Button to perform the Whirling Blade technique.  Be careful -- if you fall off the platform, Moldorm will regain all his energy. If this happens, you will have to climb back up and start again. He gets progressively faster each time you hit him, so be on the move.  Six hits to Moldorm's tail will put him away for good, and the Master Sword is as good as yours!

Agahnim
Image
The only way to defeat the evil wizard Agahnim is to use his own magic against him. To do this, swing your Master Sword at the fireballs Agahnim uses to deflect them back. You can deflect his blue whirlwind attack, but it will not damage him.  Occasionally, Agahnim will stand at the top of the room and unleash a tremendous lightning attack. To avoid being hit, stand against one of the side walls in the room. Good luck, for this battle is a major turning point in the game.

Dark World Bosses

Helmasaur
Image
Helmasaur is a red four legged monster with a spiked tail.  He is called the "Death Scorpion" by most Hylians, for he uses his tail as his main attack.  He has a weak point in the middle of his forehead that he carefully protects with a strong mask. Use three Bombs or your newly found Magic Hammer to break through the mask. Finish him off by attacking the gem in the center of his head with your Sword.  Once he is gone, collect your first Crystal.

Arrghus
Image
Arrghus is a large, one-eyed jellyfish monster with many tiny spheres circling him. To defeat him, you must destroy the spheres one at a time. Do this by pulling out your Hookshot and aim carefully to pull it near you and slash it with your sword repeatedly. Repeat this process until you have destroyed all the puffy spheres. Once this is done, you must hit Arrghus eight times with your Sword or four times with the Hammer to defeat him.  Beware though, he jumps very high and very fast.  Claim your Crystal after the fight.

Mothula
Image
Mothula is a giant moth that shoots rings of fire at you. Before you go into battle you should have at least one Green Potion Bottle to refill your magic. Shoot Mothula repeatedly with the Fire Rod as you try to avoid the spike traps in his room. If you are having trouble avoiding the traps, use the Cane of Byrna for protection. Mothula will take fifteen shots from the Fire Rod or eight hits from your Sword to be defeated.  Take the crystal once he falls.

Blind, the Thief
Image
Blind is a demon that moves around the room emitting red lasers at Link. To defeat him, stand behind the square patch of sunlight and swing your Sword at him whenever he is nearby. While he's circling inside the room, move left and right to dodge his laser attacks. Keep hitting his head until a total of three heads have fallen off. Each head takes three hits from the Sword or Magic Hammer.  Try to win this battle quickly, as it is hard to endure his attacks.  Your Crystal will be waiting for you upon his demise.

Kholdstare
Image
Kholdstare is a monstrous eye lying in a block of ice. To defeat him, thaw him with eight shots of your Fire Rod while avoiding his icy attacks. After the eighth shot, he will break into three eyeballs that bounce around the room. Hit each eyeball six times with the Sword to defeat it.  He should go down easy, giving you your fifth Crystal.

Vitreous
Image
Vitreous is a large eyeball surrounded by a bunch of smaller eyes that fly directly at you. To defeat this foe, stand in the bottom-left or bottom-right corner of the room to avoid his lightning attacks. Destroy the small eyes that fly at you. The Whirling Blade Technique works the best. After defeating all the small eyes, Vitreous will start to pounce around. Use the Whirling Blade Technique again to finish him off.  Destroy him and the crystal is yours.

Trinexx
Image
Trinexx, the boss of Turtle Rock, is no simple enemy, for you must combine the powers of the Fire Rod and the Ice Rod. Use the Fire Rod on Trinexx's blue head to stun it, and then hit it with your Sword. Repeat this until the blue head is defeated. Then, use the Ice Rod on Trinexx's red head to stun it, and then hit it with your Sword until it too disappears. Trinexx will then change into a worm-like creature with a flashing circle near the center of its body. Hit this flashing area three times with your sword to defeat Trinexx once and for all.  Claim Zelda's Crystal and move to Ganon's Tower.

Agahnim
Image
When you fight Agahnim in the Dark World, he brings along two mirror images of himself. You can tell who the real Agahnim is because the other two are slightly hazy. Attack the real Agahnim by using his own magic against him. Swing your Master Sword at the fireballs he throws to reflect their evil power back at his image. If he starts to perform his Lightning Attack, stand to one side of the wizard to safely avoid it. Once you defeat him, he will transform into a familiar bat and storm out.

Ganon: The Final Battle
Image
To defeat Gannon, you must use the Silver Arrows when he is weak. Unfortunately, he isn't a push-over. The battle will be a long and difficult one. Avoid Ganon's attacks while hitting him with your Sword as often as you can. After a while, Ganon will attempt to put out the lights in the room. When this happens, light both torches with your Fire Rod (this is very important), then slice Ganon with your sword to turn him a dark blue. This is the time to whip out your new Silver Arrows and strike, and then wait for him to recover. Repeat the process of lighting the braziers and shooting Ganon with the Silver Arrows three more times. Once you've defeated him, you have completed your quest. Congratulations!
