The White Sword is a fine blade that was forged many
centuries ago in ancient Hyrule. This white colored weapon is
made of an unknown material, much stronger than the Wooden Sword.
This unique item is located at
the top of the waterfall near the LOST
HILLS, and is guarded by a young man in his home. You must have five
Container Hearts to be worthy of this weapon.
It is twice as strong as the first sword, and therefore enemies will
also be inflicted twice the damage when you use this sword. Quite a
catch indeed! The Magical Sword is the most powerful weapon Link will
possess on his journey to save the Princess Zelda. This mythical
sword is so powerful it will inflict four times more
damage to an enemy than your original sword. It can be found in the
graveyard, and once you get it you can be sure that your life will be a
little easier than it was before; you might even find yourself
searching for enemies simply because you want to use the powers of this
sword! When Link is not fighting, he can use the
shield that is always by his
side to fend off enemy's attacks. Don't forget! There are some enemy
attacks that Link can't defend against. Link's first shield is
only affective against spears and rocks that are thrown at him by
enemies and traps. However, In addition to the first shield which
Link starts his adventure with, there is another shield that was
crafted in Hyrule. This is of course the Magic Shield which will
let Link deflect spells, rocks and even a Zola's ball! Rubies are the currency used in the Kingdom of Hyrule. You receive them
by disposing of enemies and in special secret places around the
Kingdom.. A Blue Rubie
is worth a total of five Golden Rubies, as they are much rarer. You can
only carry rubies up to a total worth of 255 Golden Rubies. Hearts are the life force of Link, and are manditory in order
to guarentee survival. A Heart Container will give Link an extra
heart on the life-meter. Look
to the heart containers section for more info on where to find these
important upgrades. A standard Heart can be found pretty much anywhere,
and will refill one heart on your life-meter. In addition to
hearts, mystical creatures called Faries can also be found around the
Kingdom of Hyrule. Fairies are small and kind persons that tend
to get themselves into trouble
quite often. Rescue them from enemies (foes which
carry fairies are randomly chosen), and capture the fairy in order to
get your life-meter restored to a certain point. Without these keys, Link would be lost in the very first labyrinth!
They are necessary to open all the doors; if you find a locked door you
can be sure that there is a corresponding key! There is also a special Magic Key in the last dungeon which will open every door in the game, and it can be used over and over again! Throughout the land of Hyrule there are many holes and rivers
that are only a tiny bit wider than Link himself. With the
ladder, you will be able to cross bodies of water, pits, and even hot
lava with ease. However, Link cannot use this step-laddder to cross
larger bodies of water. This ladder is required to be able to
progress in the game. Without the ladder in the fourth dungeon you will not get very far. The Raft is an extremely well crafted instrument that will
aid Link in his quest to save Hyrule. This item is found in the
third labyrinth, but does not become useful
before you try to reach the next level. Level 5 is hidden on an
island that can only be accessed with the Raft, so make sure you don't
miss it in the fourth labyrinth! Also, don't forget, if you ever
see a dock, there must be a way to use the raft to cross the water! This is yet another dungeon item, and just like the others, this is
critical to successfully getting through these dark labyrinths. Every
dungeon has a map, and it pays to find them!
The Compass is a dungeon item which has been used in Hyrule for as long as people have
lived there -- It has served various purposes in the dungeons, and in
this game Link uses it to pinpoint the location of the Triforce
fragment within the dungeon. Throughout the Kingdom of Hyrule, there are many houses
occupied by little old ladies. This letter allows the old ladies
in Hyrule to sell you Red and Blue
Potions. You get the letter from the old man in a cave in the
north-east part of Hyrule. No one really knows what the letter
says, but let's just say the old man is a very persuasive person. Truly invaluable artifacts, these ring will reduce damage
taken by
enemies. The Blue Ring allows Link to take one-half of the
ammount of damage he was taking prior. However, the Blue Ring is
a secret item that is hidden in the top right region of Hyrule.
The Red Ring is exeedingly more powerful, and reduces the damage you
take to one-fourth. You get
it in the very end of the game, inside the Death Mountain just before
you face the Prince of Darkness, Gannon. This bracelet, which is likely a treasure left in the world
by the now
demised race of the Gorons, will give Link amazing strength, and he
will be able to lift heavy objects such as rocks. With this bracelet,
Link can access many warp passages scattered throughout Hyrule that are
blocked by four boulders. This mythical bracelet
is hidden underneath an Armos Statue somewhere in Hyrule... No one truly knows the magic behind these clocks, but they
are extremely powerful. Finding a clock will cause all on-screen
enemies to freeze. This makes
it considerably easier to defeat them, but remember that this
doesn't affect enemies not on the screen. Also, beware that
once you enter the next room, all enemies come back to life once again. The boomerang is effective against weak enemies, and it can stun larger
ones. You get this item in the first dungeon, by killing three
Goriyas. The Magic Boomerang, of course, an upgrade of the
original Boomerang. It flies both
faster and further, making it much more powerful than its predecessor.
This boomerang is the special item of the second dungeon. Just like
in all the latter Zelda games, they are used for attacking enemies and
removing cracked walls in the original game as well. Be careful
however, Link can only carry a total of eight bombs at a time. Be sure
to use them wisely! Bombs will appear throughout Hyrule when you defeat
enemies, and they are also available in many shops as well. Many items can only be killed by the Bow and Arrow, but beware: it
might turn out to be an expensive affair, as you lose one Rupee for
every arrow you shoot! The Bow is located at the basement of the
first dungeon. The arrows can be found around Hyrule, and they
can be purchased in various shops. The legendary Silver Arrow used together with the Bow is the only artifact which can destroy the evil which threatens Hyrule .. Be sure to keep a lookout for it! These items which appear harmless at first sight, are actually
invaluable to Link during his quest. Use them to burn down bushes that
will reveal secret passages, which again tend to lead to other
important things. The Blue Candle, which is possible to buy at some shops, can only be used once per screen. The Red Candle does not have this annoying limit, but it cannot be found until you reach the seventh dungeon, where it is the main treasure. A really mysterious, magical item, which can be used to make
beautiful
music with. You will soon find that once Link plays this whistle
while in the Overworld, a tornado will come and sweep Link away to a
remote place in Hyrule. This item also possess magic powers over
the boss in the dungeon
which it is found, the fifth. This bait will lure some enemies, and then bump them off as
they approach
this irresistable goodie. It doesn't work on all enemies, so don't rely
on it. However, it serves another purpose in Link's quest.
Legend says there is a hungry villain in the seventh labyrinth, be
prepare to use some Enemy Bait if you encounter him. Drink this and all of Link's LIFE hearts will be completely
refilled. These potions can be quired by presenting one of the
little old ladies of Hyrule with a letter from the old man. The Red
potion will turn into Blue potion if Link
drinks it. Having a Red Water of Life is almost like possesing
two Blue ones! With this Wand, Link can emit a magic beam that damages
enemies. Some say that this is
the same Wand as the one used by Wizzrobes! Once you get a hold of this
in the sixth dungeon,
you will most likely have it equipped through the rest of the
game! However, there is another special treasure that can be
found, the Magic Book. The Magic Book will teach Link new spells
that enables him to upgrade his
Magic Wand to shoot a more powerful fire-beam. This ancient textcan be
found in the eighth dungeon. Remember, the Magic Book is not
required to complete you quest and stop Gannon.![]() By collecting the eight pieces of the Triforce of Wisdom,
which has
been shattered and hidden around Hyrule, Link will be able
to enter the last level -- The hideout of Gannon the Thief who is
casting his evil shadow over the once so prosperous Kingdom of
Hyrule. You cannot enter the final labyrinth without rebuilding
the Triforce by collecting all of the pieces. Each piece is
guarded by a creature and the end of each dungeon. |
