TSA over at Zentendo pointed me to an interesting little article, Iwata Asks: Link's Crossbow Training. In it, Miyamoto explains the origins of Link's Crossbow Training. Details after the jump. The article is a translation of an article from the Japanese Wii website that's been around for a few weeks, but no one translated 'til now. Ideas for the game were wide and varying, might have even ended up as a full-blown Zelda game, according to the article. But, the time wasn't right yet, or something. The article also says that Miyamoto thinks first-person games are fun, and his design team considered making Ocarina of Time a first person game, but the technology wasn't there for it. I wonder how much different the world of video gaming would be if that had happened... All in all, an interesting read. Comments (5)

Well I love Link's Crossbow Training but I don't want a whole Zelda game thats FPS view. It would be to weird and too much like a car racing game or something. I'd be okay with a game that let you switch views if you wanted.

hmm...this little interview might hold a clue to the next Zelda. I would not be surprised if the new one is a first person adventure like Metroid Prime.

agh, i don't feel comfortable with FPS or FP at all. i STILL haven't got LCT yet haha, but i'm fine with that. so long as they don't make the zelda franchise FP, because it's 'fun to be in FP'.
