NewsA semi-secret interview from E3 '07 makes interesting mentions of the upcoming Future Zelda title.

First off, I know this news is almost a year old. However, I didn't know about it until now, so chances are, neither did you. However, if you have, it is good to review.

During the 2007 E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo), the two heads of Zelda, Shigeru Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma, sat down to talk about the then-upcoming title, Phantom Hourglass, and the next Wii Zelda title. While the first half of this short article is focused on PH, we do get some pleasant insight into the future Zelda. While Aonuma was doing the talking concerning the upcoming Wii Zelda title, Miyamoto held him on a tight leash for revealed information. Judging from Aonuma's attitude and Miyamoto's secrecy, we can assume good things to come from the next Zelda title.

You can find the article here.

Dude. I have got to get a Wii before the next game comes out. I'm gonna kill something if I have to wait like I did for TP. Brawl is bad enough...

"He said that he wants a whole different base of control to take form for the next addition to the series -- to open up the main Zelda adventures on Wii for the casual gaming crowd as has Phantom Hourglass done with the DS".

let's hope they don't focus too much on makeing it for casuals. I am hopeing for a selectable difficulty mode where I don't feel like my hand is being held through the whole game.

Well, I learned my lesson on over hype from TP so I am not even going to be that foolish and do false hopes like you fanboys.

Now remember kiddies and grown ups: Just because a game is delayed doesn't necessarily mean they are improving on it: There could be a number of reasons of delays.

1. Bad communication between director and staff. EG. A director though the staff was doing this and they were doing that.
Lazy staff: where they are playing video games instead of working on their project and the Director has to yell in their ears. X:

2. Picky director :Staff ratio. Where the director gets upset over the slightest mistake. Has happened with Alford Hitchcock's movies before.

3. Working out on glitches like Link's sword going through a wall when it shouldn't or Ganon's magic not hurting you during the replay battle 1/4ths of the number of times you fight him.

Probably many more since I don't know much on how a game gets developed except for common sense.

Egads, I wanna know more ;_____; I'm excited but I still don't want to raise my hopes. I did love TP, but yeah, I always like to be cautious, so I try not to excite myself too much over something so that in the end I end up liking it a lot (because I never set expectations for it)and satisfies me.

i hope they still concentrate on hardcore gamers a much as casual like they said. I dont want zelda to be like cooking mama. That would be cool to control links walk with the step board thing.

I swear that nintendos gonna be the first to make complete virtual reality gaming though. The road theyre on it sure looks like it.

I also hope they don't focus on the casual part, let's be honest Zelda always was and is supposed to be more of a "hardcore" game and as openingthe gaming market is all well and good should they really be using the likes of Link to do so? I personally think not, Mario did a great job of doing it, along with Nintendogs and the above mentioned Cooking Mama, if they really wanted to use Link to open the market wider they would have to use the Cel-shaded style due to the absolute simplicity of it, I mean I love WW but it was the easiest Zelda and one of the easiest games I have ever played, I perasonally think Nintendo can't use Link to appeal to both Hardcore and Casual Gamers with Link unless they use both realistic and Cel-shaded styles, but with Zelda games not being released every 6 months that could get annoying for both the Hardcore and casual Gamers.

Well think I've ranted enough lol

I never knew about this before. I wonder what they plan to do with this game in terms of difficulty. I guess we just have to wait and see!

At first, some of this made me a little uneasy, but then I remembered that this is Nintendo and Zelda we're talking about here. Nintendo simply refuses to disappoint its fans with any of its classic series. On top of that, Zelda has practically dethroned Mario as the big N's flagship property, what with TP as the Wii's big release game. Thus, while a "universally appealing" Zelda may sound sketchy at first, rest assured that Shiggy and Co. still have folks like you and I in mind.

  Yeah.... about that.

There was nothing new learned here. New controls? Wow, all fans have been saying that now since TP came out. Sure, he mentioned the casual crowd with the controls, but I assume thats just in the ease of use of the control system, like with PH. PH was easy, but the controls were intuitive.

HE mentioned the storyline would be aimed at Casual, and Hardcore, alike, so there is still going to be something there for us hardcore gamers. The real question is - How hard is the game going to be? Idealy, it SHOULD get harder the farther you get into it. I mean, that Ganon sword fight at the end TP, Idealy, should of been the hardest boss fight in the game, not one of the easier ones. (they were all fairly easy, but I put that sword fight on par with the first boss fight in the game).

So, we'll see how it goes. A epic, living/breathing world with simple intuitive controls, and an amazing storyline would still satisfy my Zeld cords, even if it's not overly difficult.

*stabs self*

...But he did say that he wants to offer something in the next Zelda that all gamers will like -- both casual and hardcore.

*Sighs at the irony of not reading the entire article first*

total control? cool, i've always wanted to see link stab an enemy, and start spinning the sword around with the still stabbed enemy.
