Late April Fool's joke or true project? You decide.

This was posted over at The Hylia. It is a story that is stating that a person online is working on making a remake of the original Zelda game on the Nintendo DS. It is even stated at this website. The name of the game is planned to be "The Legend of Zelda: The Shards of Light".

You can check out the website to figure out if its truth or fiction. However, it does seem to weird to be having this game released not under the Nintendo name.

i'm not convinced. the fact that it isnt under the Nintendo label gives way to the fact that this is a load of bullocks.

excuse my language.

I agree with ZeldaStrife, if it isn't Nintendo sanctioned, it might as well be scrapped now

Also, the game will probably die in development hell

Yah...have you actually seen the original article? The guy who "made" it wrote like a 3rd grader. "I'm gonna remake it"...
It's fake. A rather late April Fool's joke.

I think it's no joke. I think he got his hands on some DS development software, and is trying to make a game. But I don't think he will finish the game. Instead, try Zelda Mobile. It's almost finished by now, and a fully enjoyable beta version is out. Just go to the forums at his site. (just google zelda mobile)

I doubt it's gonna be any good, anyone who writes like a 9 year old isn't gonna be any good at remaking one of the best games ever made, allow nintendo to decide if they want to remake the game, we don't want cheap remakes

I don't think it even looks as good as the original. Its link from alttp in the original LoZ

Jake Man said:

yeah the graphics only looked improved on link, and besides even if the guy is making this it will never get launched as everyone has said, unless it becomes Nintendo approved, which i don't see happening. An OoT remake wouldn't be bad :D

A majora's mask remake, or sequel, or TP Link going to termina would be loads better than a remake of the original, as it was ok the way it was

It looked like crap. I say, let Nintendo make their own games, and everybody else can leave the games alone. We all remember what happened when Phillips made the CD-i Zelda games, don't we?

Adam_148 said:

it should stop now, the only overworld character seemingly improved is link, this game should die, you can't improve on the original, only nintendo can do that

I dont know if any of you noticed, but in the original article he says "If I hit a road block, I'll just quit."
Why would he quit after this much work? And over 1 road block?

This guy's an idiot.

  lol, blatantly fake. why?

- photoshop outerglow please
- objects don't fit into spaces right,
i mean, what's wrong with using an inventory at LEAST as good as minish cap's? if that isn't enough
- horrible texture on the top screen
- FF:III, wait, didn't they make that 3D on DS
- um... GRAPHICS?
- um... not The Legend of Zelda DS**** ??

well, that's enough i think.

This is a fake, keypoints to show it is fake:
Metroid 2 was never a remake.
Shards of Light doesn't mean anything for the first LOZ.
In a screen shot the old man says "Happy New Year", Hylian history suggests there is no celebration of the new year.
