IGN created a list of what they call "Stars Icons", people and characters that deserve iconic status. For their first entry, guess who they picked?

It is almost a given when it comes to video game icons, Link tends to dominate. After all, Ocarina of Time is still widely considered the best video game of all time. So it was no surprise when IGN started "Stars Icons", their first choice was none other than the man in green himself.

The report they gave on him is slightly long and nothing incredibly new to fans of his, but as always, it is still worth a read. You can find it here.

sorry, but I have to agree with tonchiki. yeah, link is pretty famous, but mario is considered nintendos icon character. besides, mario has so many more games than link.

I'm gonna have to disagree, I really think that Mario gets way to much attention... the way I see it, Mario is the face of Nintendo but The Legend of Zelda series is the heart.
