Nintendo has received a lot of complains lately about people having trouble playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Nintendo has responded to these problems with the words that it's caused by the use of a modified Wii. When you try to play the original copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl on your modified Wii it will give you an error-message. This message may also apear when the laser from your Wii is dirty. Nintendo will happily fix that problem though, for free. Nintendo won't, obviously, help out the people who have got a modified Wii at any rate. Source: Wii-DS Comments (15)

So modified as in they got a new Wii, or they were fiddling around with it? Because I had to send in my Wii for repairs, and I'm 90% sure they just sent me a new Wii, and my Brawl works fine.

This only applies to the Wiikey. It's nothing a simple firmware update can't fix... If the Wiikey team's still around, that is.

Modified? What exactly does that mean? Because I haven't done anything to mine, yet I get the error message for Brawl.

Google is your friend ;) Zr. Nearly every video game system that comes out now has some sort of Mod chip that you can buy and install (at your own risk of course) to allow the system to play "Backed Up" games. These backups are actually burned games called backups because of course it is illegal to burn games and use them.

Where's my previous comment gone? Anyway, I'll say what I said before. I was going to get my wii chipped just so I could play the American version of Brawl. How ironic would it have been if the very I used to allow me to play the game, only prevented me some other way? There, that's pretty much what I said before, maybe slightly different wording, and it was COMPLETELY on topic. Mods: Before deleting a post/comment, please take time to ask yourself "Should I really delete this post (or comment)?"

Teep, the comments are mostly unmoderated. If your comment wasn't there, it didn't get sent in the first place.

besides, if they were moderated, they would've deleted deku-princess's comment by now... and come to think of it, mine too. so to stick to the topic, wow, glad I don't buy cheating devices or mod chips or the like.
