UPDATE: Yep, we hit the magical halfway point! w00t!

If you haven't been following the donation drive from the beginning and want to get caught up, please read the original newspost and status update #1. They'll give you all the information you need.

Now, a few questions have been flying around...

How long will the Patron banners be around for? Will they disappear after the donation drive?
The Patron banners are here to stay. Our staff debated this subject, and when the new layout comes we are going to do something more stately with the banners. However, until the relaunch of ZU all Patron banners will remain as they are. Even after the layout, there will be a fancy, good-looking indication in your profile page that you donated to ZU.

When will the donation drive end? I want to be a part of this before it does.
Donations never end. You can donate whenever you want, and however much you want. I will hire the designer around February 20th – so if we don’t reach our goal of $2000 by then, there will be some cutbacks (namely the entire forum design) until we reach it. But as of right now, there is enough to do the main site.

Will the new layout stretch for widescreen resolutions?
No, it will have a fixed width, just like the current design. It may be slightly wider, though.

Who's the guy making this layout?
Sorry! We don't want to ruin the surprise of his awesome talent by letting you Google for his portfolio. You'll find out who he is and how good his stuff looks when we relaunch ZU.

Fine, but is this guy any good? Does he have skills?
Yes, he's good. I thought I said that already! ;)... you really need to trust us with this one. We know who we're choosing and went on a search for several weeks to find the right person. And in the words of our favorite webmaster Scotty Boy: "He's good. Let's leave it at that. (And you gotta pay the coder, too. That's not the same person.)"

Will said skills pay the bills?
Only if we can pay his bill first. :B

Keep the questions coming! The more people get into this drive, the better ;)... and like I said, we're VERY close to the halfway point! When we get to the halfway point, I'll reveal something neat about ZU's revamp that goes beyond just the layout. But you've got to make it there, first! We’ve gotten off to an amazing start, but it doesn't pay the bills just yet!
