Indeed it is impressive. I’m not sure how many of you know about this project either. Come on in, and gather ‘round!
King Mob a dude on the forums over at ZFGC.com has been working on a Zelda game for 3 years now, give or take a month. I encourage you to go and take a look at everything he has going on, because it looks amazing, like the next best thing to a real Nintendo produced Zelda game.
This game is called The Legend of Zelda: The Shadowgazer and is made with what looks like Minish Cap graphics. There are 2 demos available and a trailer.
I’m not 100% sure, but I think 3 years might make King Mob the most dedicated Zelda fan game developer… ever. So why don’t you go over to the ZFGC forum and congratulate him on how awesome he’s doing (if you indeed think he’s doing awesome) and also congratulate him for going 3 years strong, he deserves it. I’m sure he could use some encouragement too, everyone who takes on such a big task could use it. King Mob has created some fantastic ideas, and characters, I almost wish that he would get signed… or hired… or whatever they do, by Nintendo. This game makes me think of Majora’s Mask, but instead of being a sequel to OoT, it’s a sequel to MC (so it seems, don't quote me on that one). He has instilled a 3-day cycle (that also includes night and day, of course) but at the end it just starts over again instead of a moon destroying the world. This 3-day cycle gives us a routine to follow for the NPCs in the game. He has also added a horseback combat system, I can’t say how well it works, because I haven’t tried it, but he says it works swimmingly. You can find out more at the 2 sites that are linked. Theres also a ton of other zelda fangames being worked on with news on ZFGC, check them out. Some people are so talented...
Until next time... I remain Christov Stay Rad.

This reminds me of that guy who lied about dying so he could get out of finishing that OoT 3D fan game. Made me chuckle, it did. On topic: Wow, that looks fantastic!

Actually, wasn't it that he pretended that he died so that people would stop bugging him about the game? I'm pretty sure he was still making it.

That looks like an impressive fangame. My only problem is the slightly awkward control layout in the demo, and the extremely small screen size (then again it might just look small on this 20" 1680x1050 monitor I'm using). Besides that, it looks great, and the custom sprites and objects blend in with the Minish Cap's visual style perfectly. What surprises me the most is that its made in Game Maker. From my experience with Game Maker and most other projects I've seen come out of it, I'm surprised this guy is making something this good with the program. The only other time I've ever seen an impressive Game Maker project is Metroid Prime 2D. Then again I heard OoT 2D was also in Game Maker, but that project seems to have totally disappeared.

Wh...whoah. That's some really great stuff going there. I took a look at the demo, trailer, and some concept stuff he's got, and... all I can say is "wow". Makes me all inspired and wanna go full steam ahead on my Paper Mario fangame, but I keep having problems with the scripting in that... -_- (it'd be a Flash game, believe it or not). Anyway, three million cheers for King Mob! Hip hip... hooray! Hip hip... et cetera!!

Wow. just... wow. and I mean WOW!. this is incredible. it brings together so many elements from different games. I herd sounds from OoT and MM. I saw things from MC and FSA. this is a-maz-ing. I just have one question. What system is this for? the button icons look like Wii buttons, but this can't be for the Wii. It would be an insult to the Wii's power and ability. of course, I would expect a non-nintendo person to be able to make wii graphics.

Maybe this guy should contact Nintendo about making it a WiiWare game? If they'll allow it.

I'm DEAD serious someone NEED's to contact Nintendo and get this on the Wii. Maybe they'll allow it, than maybe he'll get some cash and some noteriety.

@Gr84Megaman I wouldnt do that if I was you. thats the quickest way to get KM sent a cease and desist order for using copyrighted assets. Nintendo dont actively shut fan projects like this down but if you asked them what they thought about it they would have no option but to say "its a breach of copyright - please stop" let him get on with it at his own pace. also, its being made with Game Maker 6 and it would need to be recoded from scratch to go on any other platform. it will be for PC only

To: Chainoftermina - those buttons you see are keys for the keyboard. haha its for computer only. interesting note. on the same forum, there is a guy making a remake of LoZ in AlttP graphics, and its for YOUR CELL PHONE! thats soo cool, and hes pretty much done apparently. like over 80%. The Legend of Zelda: Mobile! and i dont think that nintendo would ever shut down a fangame like this one. even if it gets exctremely popular. it is basically free publicity for them. when people see the game its like "hey this guy really loves zelda, he spent over 3 years creating an amazing game, and its fun too! so the real thing must be great! lets go buy it!" They may end up shutting down crappy ones that make zelda look bad, but otherwise i dont think so. i did email nintendo, asking about thier oppinion about such things. i have yet to get a reply. though in my experience it usually takes a couple months to get a reply from them.

^^ youre missing the point. whatever poor shmuck at nintendo has to deal with requests like that every day will tell you to shut the project down. its their job. they won't even look at the project, never mind agree to distribute it. do the guy a favour and DONT ask.
Cshawns
said:
haha if you're referring to me. i would never point out a specific game when contacting nintendo. i was merely asking for thier opinions. most likely they'll just copy and paste some junk.

Wow! this is great!! I would continue my fangame if I had the registered version of Gamemaker, tough I would suggest he made the game a bit faster, it looks slow, otherwise its looking perfect.
Cshawns
said:
Khao, i thought it looked slow as well, but i think that was just because of the part where link is creeping closer to the octroks with his shield. but playing the demo goes very very nicely. though i cant say anything about the horse riding.

ooooohhh... it's for the computer... oh, well, then dude! he needs to get in contact with a game company! if nintendo dosen't want it, then he should ask sony, or microsoft, or something. oh by the way. on my last coment, there was a typo. I meant to say I would not expect him to make wii graphics. god that worried me. I sounded like a total douchbag

of course its a hobby, if it wasnt a hobby, he would have no money because you dont make money from fangames. its illegal to make money from fangames. but i think he goes at it pretty hard. theres a lot of tweaking to do, tens of thousands of tiny little things, not to mention desiging new characters and some new sprites, and he changed the MC enginea bit i beleive. theres dungeon design, story design, dialogue, and hundreds of other much mroe complicated thigns i dont even begin to understand. i think hes doing AMAZING for 3 years of work, being just one person.
