While Nintendo’s previous console, the Wii U, didn’t sell particularly well, the Nintendo Switch has been extremely popular since its launch back in March 2017. A report from GoldenCasinoNews explains Nintendo’s recently released financial statements for the past year, showing a jump in Switch sales for March 2020. An impressive 4.2 million Switch consoles were sold.
This significant jump in sales would usually be expected around the holidays, not during a month such as March. This anomaly is likely attributed to the combination of the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and the increase of people staying home as a result of COVID-19.
As of March 31, 2020 Nintendo has sold a total of 55.7 million Nintendo Switches worldwide. North America accounts for 20.61 million units sold, the most of any other region.
