Hey there everyone. Matt here. You all know me as Μαtt on the forums. Let’s get started.

On December 17th, 2008, Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance issued a lawsuit against Nintendo of America. The company asserts that a fire that destroyed a Kentucky house was caused by a faulty Nintendo DS AC Adapter.  The lawsuit demands $236,304 USD be payed in damages to a Mr. French Harmon.

One of the many charges against Nintendo in this lawsuit is that Nintendo failed to “adequately, properly and safely design, manufacture, assemble, inspect, and test” the Nintendo DS AC Adapter.

Nintendo has recalled DS Adapters in the past. The reason being the apparent risk of overheating and fire.  However, these chargers were only recalled in Japan. The lawsuit is against Nintendo of America only.

The Wii Food Delivery Channel

The Wii Food Delivery Channel

Ah, the fruits of our new Submit News button are paying off. Apparently another interesting channel will be coming to Japanese Wii owners soon. Set for launch next Spring, the Food Delivery Channel will work in concert with demae-can.com to bring the hungry their sustenance. The channel will also have the ability to randomly select a meal for you, for the indecisive among us.

No word on a US release, but I’m sure if one were to be released it wouldn’t be filled with the Chinese and Japanese food of this Japanese incarnation. Though I can say I do have a soft spot for campusfood.com

Nintendo of Japan announced a video download service for the Wii a couple days ago. It is set to launch this spring.

There hasn’t been much of news lately, and we here at ZU apologize for the lack of news being put onto the site, but as you know Christmas is coming up, and everybody deserves a break, even us news monkeys.

For the moment I did receive something interesting from forum member Artorium. G4 is a television network, that is best known for its gaming coverage. Well a couple days ago they had an interview with Reggie. He talked about sales, the people who want Wii , mature titles, and how (again Nintendo trying to  reassure us) Nintendo has not forgotten about the core Nintendo fan.

To add on a post I posted last time, the Angry Video Game Nerd finished his Zelda CD-i reviews today.

As if the Wii Motion Plus is not enough, Nintendo wants to upgrade the accelerometer inside of the Wii Remote controllers. It looks as if companies from all over have been trying to pawn off their latest creation to Nintendo, and it looks like they may have found one.

Nintendo's DS Spa gives your a massage and a sample of DS gameplay. At the same time.

Nintendo's traveling DS Spa gives you a massage and a sample of DS gameplay. At the same time.

It seems Nintendo wants to make it’s casual fans cushy while they learn more about the DS. While at the mall today to replace a crappy iPod case at the Apple store with a fresh, undamaged model, I ran across something that genuinely made me smile. While walking down the halls of a mall I hadn’t seen in months, I came across what looked like a routine random massage booth, complete with fake decorative bamboo on the walls. But then I saw two adults playing DS inside, and I knew something was up. I examined closer - a sign in front of the massage parlor read “Welcome to the Nintendo DS Spa: Please select a complimentary DS Spa treatment.”

As if I was about to let this chance slip away! As a self-proclaimed choir geek, I know a good massage when I see one, and I love to play DS to boot. The combination of the two seemed too good to be true.

I always post when I find interesting videos on Zelda. Well, I found another one from the Angry Video Game Nerd.

Out of the gate, Wii Music, hasn’t been so hot. 66,000 thousand copies have been sold thus far. When compared to the sales of other casual success story games, such as Wii Fit (I know that most of you readers are gamers, but you can’t deny the fact that it is selling well) has sold 487,000 copies.

One would think Nintendo may be worried (or you gamers pray for it because maybe they will step away from this casual persona), but you would be incorrect. Hit the jump to find out why.

Nintendo has confirmed that each Wii Speak and its peripheral will only be able to be used on a single Wii. It will have a one-time activation code, meaning that it will not work in any other Wii, and it will be unable to be sold second-hand. Only those Wiis with Wii Speak are able to access the Wii Speak channel, which will not function without the peripheral.

Wii Speak launches November 16th in North America and December 5th in the UK.

edit: For those wondering why I reported on the Mega Man 9 story… We had a poll here if you wanted to see more Nintendo news, rather than just Zelda news, and I think you can guess which side had more votes.

Yea you read that right. I know that a decent number of you downloaded Mega Man 9. By now most of you that downloaded the game should have beaten it. You’ve probably gotten the DLC for the game and beaten it on hard mode. You think you’ve found everything thing there is to know about the game. Be prepared to be knocked off your high horse!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last couple months, you should know about the economic crisis facing the world. Most of this can be attributed to the US and the sub-prime mortgage crisis. Most of you under 18, though, could probably care less. Although, if the economy tanks, how does Nintendo create games? Or what if they create them, but then have to sell them for extremely high prices just to turn a small profit?

What would you do if your family couldn’t afford games anymore? Would you cry? Would you even care?  Of course you would. Why come to a Zelda site and not care about gaming even a little? Well there is a bit of good news. Hit the jump to find out why.

Looks like some fella has figured out how to wire the DS hardware to two hefty-sized tablet PC screens. The result is quite a bit of awesomeness, so read on for a spectacular video demonstration.

The DS, as you can see from the picture in this post, is more than heavily modified - it’s downright torn apart and rebuilt. Okay, perhaps not that radically rearranged, but it’s one heck of a mod job. Supposedly this bad boy can also dump screenshots straight to a PC via a serial port and record what’s going on on-screen in a video file.

For those of you who don’t know it, Wii Speak is a new peripheral anounced at the last E3. It allows voice chat between friends during gameplay, but at the time the only game that was able to make use of it was the newly announced Animal Crossing title coming out for the Wii.

Remember those Nintendo Points that were supposed to come with the DSi for the DSi store? Well, they’re actually called Nintendo DSi Points, and it’s not a be-all end-all Points solution for Nintendo’s multiple consoles. In fact, it’s no solution at all - Wii Points and Nintendo DSi Points are strictly separate.

It’s awkward, then, that both points will be sold on the same points card. A “Nintendo Points” card will go on sale in Japan with the advent of the DSi, and will be redeemable for Wii Points and Nintendo DSi Points, but not both at once. Each card can only redeem one or the other, meaning you can’t purchase a $10 1000 Nintendo Points card and get 500 Wii Points and 500 DSi Points. Cards will be available in 1000, 3000, and 5000 point amounts - so remember to buy different cards for your different systems, when the DSi inevitably rolls its way over to the Americas and Europe.
