In addition to the TV series, comic books and other Zelda merchandise, the series has some books that were based on the games.
Molblin’s Magic Spear
Molblin’s Magic Spear was based on the first two Zelda games. The story is simple, but the illustrations in the book are really nice. The artwork is inspired by the games and the Zelda cartoon series on TV. For example, Impa and Zelda are inspired by the illustrations in the Zelda 2 manual, while Ganon and the Moblins looks like their cartoon series counterparts. Link himself looks almost like the Link from Zelda: A Link to the Past.
The story is supposed to be only one of Link’s many adventures that he had while journeying to rescue Zelda from Ganon. Link is tricked by a funny old man into visiting his underground store. He is offered a magic shield in exchange for providing the merchant with water. Soon afterwards, Link encounters a huge Moblin with a magical spear that vanishes after it is thrown and reappears in his hands. Link needs to use his wits in order to get past him.
Note that the word ‘Moblin’ is actually spelt ‘Molblin’ in this book, as it was in the original Legend of Zelda instruction manual. And the artwork depicts Link as right-handed in most of the pictures, but left-handed in some others. Some copies of this book were accompanied by a tape.

The Crystal Trap
This book is the first of two Nintendo Adventure Books featuring the Legend of Zelda. The Nintendo Adventure Books were “choose your own adventure” type stories, with puzzles and clues to help readers guide Nintendo’s heroes on the path to victory through a story.
Ganon hasn’t been able to steal the Triforces of Wisdom and Courage from Link and Zelda, so he decides that if he can’t use them, then nobody should be able to. He casts a spell that seals both Triforces in crystal, and as the Triforce of Courage resides in Link’s heart, Link is trapped too. Zelda has 24 hours to find the three things that are needed to break the crystal, so that she can rescue Link and together they can defeat Ganon.

The Shadow Prince
This book is the second of the Nintendo Adventure Books featuring The Legend of Zelda.
The story begins with Link and Zelda being attacked by a band of Moblins in the woods. All of a sudden, a strange man rides over and gets rid of the Moblins. Outdone, Link finds the man irritating, but Zelda is impressed when he introduces himself as Prince Charles of the land of Moria. Zelda invites him back to North Castle, but Link starts to become suspicious of him. Readers must help Link prove if his suspicions are true or not.
