The people over at Nintendo have released a list of upcoming titles for the console we’re all waiting for, the Wii U! This confirmed batch of games will probably be out within 2 – 5 months of the Wii U’s release:

  • Pikmin 3
  • Smash Bros.
  • Lego City Stories
  • Darksiders II
  • Ninja Gaiden III: Razor’s Edge
  • Batman: Arkham City
  • New Ubisoft FPS IP
  • New Ubisoft multi-sports family IP
  • Ghost Recon Online
  • Assassin’s Creed
  • Rayman Raving Rabbids
I know that you’re thinking, “Where’s Zelda?!” Well, don’t panic just yet. It’s almost certain that a Zelda game will be released within the first few years of the Wii U’s life. Considering that Nintendo chose to create a Zelda sequence for one of its Wii U tech demos and later commented that the demo wasn’t necessarily what Zelda on Wii U would look like, the future seems bright for Zelda fans. Not to mention that Zelda remains one of Nintendo’s leading franchises. After seeing the tech demo at E3 and what the Wii U is capable of, I think the wait will be worth it. So, fear not my friends! Even if Zelda doesn’t appear as a launch title for the console, we’ll have one eventually.

Tell us what games you’d like to see and which titles are you most excited for!

    Smash Bros <3

    1. Shadowknight1 says:

Very, VERY unlikely. I don't think we'll be seeing it until 2013 at the earliest. Remember how long Brawl took? Honestly, no trailer is out for it yet, which confirms to me that they are NOT working on it yet. And I don't know about you, but I don't want a Smash Bros. game that took less than a year to make.

      1. nicktheslayer says:

No trailer = not working on it?

Skyward Sword was being made since BEFORE Twilight Princess was released. But apparently theys started working on it at e3 2010.

      2. Jarkes says:

Yeah, Shadowknight1's logic (or lack thereof) astounds me.

      3. Jarkes says:

Though I do have to agree that, in all likelihood, Smash Bros won't be released in the first 2-5 months.

      4. The 10th Rider says:

They've said development hasn't started yet, not until Kid Icarus is done.

      5. Shadowknight1 says:

Excuse me then. Lack of a trailer of any kind combined with the fact that Sakurai's studio is small and is ultimately focusing on Kid Icarus right now says to me that they're not working on it yet. Does that make more "logical" sense?

      6. I agree with you. Because it totally only takes one year to make an epicly huge game.

    2. evanescent_hero says:

Keep in mind Brawl was supposed to be a launch title for the Wii. The Wii came out in 2006, and Brawl came out in 2008. Don't hold your breath. And ALSO keep in mind it's being made for 3DS at the same time, which is two games being made together, to function together in some way, which is going to take a long time. I can pretty much guarantee that it won't be out within two to five months; we'll be lucky if it's out within two years, considering they'll undoubtedly be trying to top Brawl.

    3. RaineSageRocks says:

      I'm so pumped!

  3. Eternal Legend says:

    Assassin's Creed? =o

    And another Smash Bros! <3

    1. ChainofTermina says:

I know! Assassin's Creed!? on Nintendo!? Now all I need is Mass Effect and Elder scrolls on Nintendo and I'm all set to go back to using Nintendo as my primary console, hahahhXD,,,,but no, no, I'm joking, I don't expect those games to show up on Nintendo.

      1. Lyokokrill says:

I believe Bethesda said somewhere that they were considering having the Elder Scrolls on the Wii U.

  4. PhantomVII says:

Smash Bros. that early is impossible. That hardly gives them a year to work on the game.

Of course, I'm most excited for Zelda, but no doubt I'll also be getting Assassin's Creed and Arkham City (if they turn out well). And Smash Bros. :3

    1. @zoraluigi says:

Well then maybe they've been working on it for a year already? Who knows how long they've had the WiiU under wraps?

      1. LuX says:

They've already said they haven't started working on it yet, because there finishing up with Kid Icarus 3DS.

  5. Lucaslink2 says:

smash bros, but nintendo said at e3 thatthey didn't even started with it yet

  6. Hombre_de_Mundo says:

Launch Wii U with Pikmin and New Super Mario Bros Wii U and you have yourself a good launch.

    1. Gavin says:

They already declared that New Super Mario Bros Wii U is simply a tech demo.

      1. Hombre_de_Mundo says:

        yeah but it shouldn't be.

    2. shooflypi says:

I really hope Pikmin 3 is a launch title. I think it would be the perfect game to showcase the new system

  7. Addsy says:

I seriously doubt that Smash Bros. will be out within the first 2-5 months of launch. Sakurai takes an awfully, AWFULLY long time with his games and in post-E3 he even said that development hadn't started yet. Just look at KId Icarus Uprising, a title that was meant to be released in the 'launch window' of the 3DS will probably be released next year. And I don't even need to mention Brawl. Nevertheless, not a bad line up there I guess, would have loved to have seen a new Zelda but we all know it's coming and it will be awesome. Not taking anything away from SS though, can't wait!

    1. Jarkes says:

I'm pretty sure Kid Icarus Uprising is coming out in the "Holiday 2011" timeframe. Which isn't exactly the launch window, but yeah.

  8. Pietro says:

    1. your source doesn't say anything about the release time frame, you clearly pulled the 2-5 months out of your ass.

    2. The source for your article was written on June 9th, out of date.

These recent news fails are giving me the urge to apply.

    1. Jani says:

'These recent news fails are giving me the urge to apply. '

      Maybe that's the plan! D:

      1. mikeypizzalover says:

        JANI!!! You uncovered their secret!

        Please take this COOKIE!!! (('J'))

    2. Jarkes says:

All right, fair enough about the 2-5 months thing, and the out of date source, but no need to be a douchebag about it. And what exactly do you mean it gives you the "urge to apply"? That doesn't even make sense…

      1. Grówli says:

It means he thinks he can do a better job at it.

      2. Abyss Master says:

Sorry dude but douchebag or not, this was a pretty big error as far as news posting goes.

  9. BigKeyChest says:

Smash Bros and also Skyward Sword…wait that is Wii…

  10. Z-MAN7 says:

Nintendo should have started early on Smash Bros. That game is one of those "killer apps" games that ensures huge system sales.

Well, that and it would have been cool to have a Smash Bros. at launch, because the launch list doesn't impress me, save for Pikmin and Batman.

Gotta have some online stuff too! Anyone up for Monster Hunter and Phantasy Star on Wii U?

    1. Shadowknight1 says:

How could they have started early? Sakurai has a relatively small team to work with, and they've been busy with Kid Icarus.

  11. michael12268 says:

    smash bros!! yes!!!!!!!!!!

  12. ??? says:

New Super Mario Bros. Mii? And haven't there been news on Metroid Wii U using the cry engine?

    1. mikeypizzalover says:

New Super Mario Bros. Mii is "ONLY" a tec. demo

  13. Matt says:

lol, Smash Bros. Sakurai hasn't even finished Kid Icarus or even given a date as to when it might be done, let alone find studios to help him make Smash Bros and THEN start it. There's no way we'll even have that game for at least 1 1/2 – 2 years if not a bit longer. The Dojo was up probably a few months after they got some stuff ready and then kept going for almost 2 years, so… yeah, we won't be seeing that for a while (but teasers always make us more excited, like the Brawl one, squeeh!!!).

However I did expect Pikmin 3 to be a launch title and I can't wait to see that. Unfortunately, it looks like once again, Nintendo is launching with very few 1st party games and more 3rd party… like the release of the 3DS… and look at how THAT went. Although Pikmin will probably sell more than Nintendo's 1st party offerings at the 3DS's launch date, only having ONE 1st party game at launch (Pikmin) probably isn't the best way to go.

I wonder if in Pikmin 3 you flick on the screen to throw a pikmin? I think it's very likely.

    1. mikeypizzalover says:

KIU Is probely in localization stages about now, unless it is a localization-during development like game, ala OoT.

If not, entering finishing touches aroun soon..

  14. RedCap says:

The reason why Nintendo has been giving the spotlight to 3rd parties lately is because developers feel that they can't do good on Nintendo's systems so they don't support them. So Nintendo's been letting 3rd Parties take over a bit of their launches so they don't feel so intimidated and actually MAKE games for Nintendo's systems.

  15. Eon says:

I wonder what Assassin's Creed would be like on the WiiU

    1. JGowan says:

      Awesome, natch! – JGowan

  16. KingOfHeart says:

I have a feeling they will use the same graphics as Skyward Sword and continue Link's adventure. It helps to create a faster release, otherwise the game won't be ready until the end of the WiiU's life cycle.

    1. mikeypizzalover says:

      WHAT GAME!?!?!?

    2. JGowan says:

You are sooooooo wrong. Why would they do this? They can totally do a Wii U version and I'm sure it will be completely awesome-looking like the Wii U demo with all of the lighting and everything. They don't release new Zelda games closer together because they don't have to. Twilight Princess has been selling great for them at $49 for years now. They could/would speed up production if they had to.

The fact that Twilight just went to $20 Classic is an indicator that there needs to be a new Zelda, pronto

      1. JGowan says:

… enter Skyward Sword. However only the core Zelda fans will get this one, I'm afraid as I believe it's going to be perceived as too kiddy. So… skip ahead to the Wii U — we'll be getting a much more beautiful Twilight Princess looking game for it sometime soon after the launch. I don't think there'll be a long wait. The fact that they did a Zelda demo shows they know what their fan's favorite series is.

  17. Ashmic says:

I don't understand Why all these games couldn't Be on Reg. Wii, It can support it, PUT SILENT HILL ON IT!

    1. Gavin says:

You idiot, the Wii is at the end of it's life.

      1. Ashmic says:

way out of the line to call me an idiot, you prick

    2. Shadowknight1 says:

No it can't. You can't sit there and seriously post that games like Ninja Gaiden, Darksiders 2, and Arkham City can be brought to the Wii without them being stripped down waggle-fests.

    3. JGowan says:

If you're wondering what the Wii can do VERSUS what it can't do, pick up a copy of Prince of Persia Forgotten Sands for both Wii and XBox360/PS3. Ubisoft knew it couldn't port the XBOX/PS3 version to the Wii so they created a completely new game for Ninty's system, pushing it to it's limit. Both versions push their respective game systems, really showcasing what the different systems can do. While I enjoyed the Wii game, graphically, it was no contest. The next-gen systems won, hands-down.

  18. Jarkes says:

I swear, if we have to wait ANOTHER FIVE YEARS for a new Zelda game to come out right before the release of the NEXT system, many of us will be very, very p***ed.

    1. prada says:

I concur! Seriously they come out with like 5 decent console games with mario. and like one zelda every 5 years? I am one angry banana!! roar

  19. A_LINK_IN_TIME says:

They announced all these before, but if these are the launch games, count me in.

  20. Joey says:

didn't Miyamota say if Skyward Sword wasn't the best Zelda game ever that they wouldn't make another? Well at any rate there has never been a bad Zelda game (except the one on PC where you play as Zelda) So I am pretty sure there will be another game but who knows. Here's hoping ^_^

    1. Gavin says:

It's not a PC one, it's the CDi. And those aren't Zelda games. :3

    2. mikeypizzalover says:

It was to motivate his team, saying "If Skyward Sword wasn't the best Zelda game ever that they wouldn't make another"

  21. Paffe says:

Who cares if it takes 2 months or 3 years! The fact that a new Smash Bros. is coming is WAY better than drugs!!

  22. X x7 says:

Pikmin 3, Smash Bros., and Assassins Creed are enough to tide me over till the next Zelda game, and I bet we'll be seeing a trailer for one sometime in early 2012 anyways.

  23. blj says:

Wii U isn't coming out for another year, so Smash Bros. being released is possible. The first 2 – 5 months of Wii U will be November – March. And Skyward Sword is being released this year, so developement of Smash Bros. can start after the release of SS, and still be released within the first 2 – 5 months of Wii U.

  24. 465783 says:

If the new Smash Bros. game is a lunch title, then I'll get the WiiU when it comes out.

  25. Like my new name? says:

Is Battle Mii and others going to come with the system? They look really fun. :D

    1. A_LINK_IN_TIME says:

      Maybe pre-installed.

  26. Skyloftian says:

    Yay, Smash Bros! 8D

  27. robotortoise says:

If Smash Bros is a Wii U launch title, then this thing will sell like mad.

  28. teengamer08 says:

You guys, your source is OUTDATED and came out right after E3. They said these games would be COMING, not be LAUNCH TITLES!! Ugh, get your facts straight.

  29. none says:

At E3, Nintendo said that they hadn't started working on the new Super Smash Bros. yet. Additionally, I remember reading somewhere else that it takes a lot longer to make Wii U games than it does to make Wii games.

Even if Nintendo has been secretly working on a new SSB for the past few years, Nintendo will probably delay the game. I don't want them to, but it'll probably happen.

  30. RayxConsume says:

Where the hell is my new F-Zero game?

    1. I'm still waiting for that and a new Star Fox console game. None of this "re-release with new graphics" crap either like SF64 3DS (although that does look cool). I want a new entry in the series, preferably ignoring Command and simply picking up after Assault since Command screwed up the story so bad with all that multi-ending ****!

      1. Trolldad says:

        Remember what Miyamoto said?
If Skyward Sword or Starfox 64 3D isn't the best games in their series they're ditching them.
Show some love for SF643D or else Starfox might vanish into oblivion

      2. Patrick says:

You know that he wasn't serious about ditching them, right?

      3. I remember him saying that about Zelda but I don't remember him saying that about Star Fox. Is there a link to an article or something where I could see for myself? I'm not trying to be a jerk here and I'm not doubting you, I'm just genuinely curious. By the way, my apologies for the mini-rant, I got a bit out of hand there (guess several years of frustration really came out , ha-ha).

I didn't say I hated SF64 3D; actually it looks really awesome and I can't wait to play it, considering it's one of my favorite games of all time. I'm just frustrated that because of Command, future games in the series timeline are going to be extremely difficult to make, and I'm afraid that with this remake that Nintendo is going to simply reboot the series again (did the same thing with the SNES version, but that wasn't a bad move since there was only one game in the series). Remakes are cool, but a complete reboot of an entire series seems like the easy way out and I'm sick of seeing so many of them, whether they be movies, games, etc.

      4. Trolldad says:

Well if you keep searching the old posts there should be a post with the Zelda 1 Link kneeling down while looking at the sunset.
        That's the post.

      5. Subrosian says:

A new console Star Fox with awesome online and HD graphics… It would just be awesome!

  31. Pedro says:

Wow, the tech demo looks just like a HD version of Twilight Princess… It would be great, wouldn't it? Midna deserves being HD, and Ilia too…

    1. prada says:

nah im pretty sure its enough just for the sake of Midna!

  32. Thareous says:

Forgive my ignorance (I haven't been here in a while), but is that what the Wii U will look like? 8D Dude that is awesome! Even if the Zelda title won't come out for some time, I can't wait to see how the new platform will work!

Smash Bros is going to be awesome on that thing! :D

    1. A_LINK_IN_TIME says:

The controller is in the person's hands. The console is by the TV. :)

      1. Thareous says:

        Dude…that is wicked awesome!

      2. Thareous says:

Okay, I'm ready for 2012 right now. 8D

  33. Mr. Dent says:

    "Where's Zelda?"

I think you missed darksiders 2 on there

  34. gillooly9 says:

I am looking foward to Pikmin 3

  35. Jon says:

I'm so excited for the new smash bros!

  36. --- says:

    darksiders II o3o

  37. BlackOwlDog says:

Smash Bros within 2-5 months? Who came up with that?!? Mr. Sakurai himself didn't even know anything about it when Iwata announced it! They literally haven't started yet!

    1. Yeah, last I heard Sakurai-san was still looking for additional developers to help make the project a reality. Brawl was HUGE, crammed with tons of content and fan-service. I wonder how they'll outdo themselves this time around. Wonder who the new fighters will be too. Will we see a Subspace Emissary 2 perhaps? Hmm…

  38. Silver Scale says:

If Pikmin 3 looks good, I'm sold on the U…

  39. Riley Nichols says:

pikmin 3. Smash Bros. Darksiders II. Arkham City. Assasins Creed. Ghost Recon. Nice, but will we be seeing a Galaxy 3? or a new Paper Mario? I love me some Paper Mario. What about Final Fantasy? Dragon Quest 10? Cant wait to see a new Metroid. New Super Mario Bros. Mii? {Just typing these as I come up with them.)

    1. Subrosian says:

I would bet the Galaxy series is over. They'll try to do something new… er…. With Mario what with the awesome touch-screen control and stuff.

  40. Justin says:

so glad to see arkham city will come out on the Wii U, even if it's half as awesome as arkham asylum it's a must buy. I hope they make another Monster hunter for the Wii U as well, that'd be awesome

    1. Justin says:

      why'd I get thumbed down?

  41. whatdoesitmatter says:

I'm properly alone in this, but I dislike the direction video game manufacturer are going in general. I find all this motion control stuff gimmicky and ridiculous. If that is the only way games in the future can be played Nintendo or any other manufacturer won't be getting my dollar.

  43. Zeldahero11 says:

Smash bros. is gonna rock! I can't wait to beat up Ganondorf with Link again. I'm just not sure it will come out very early on the wii u. It hasn't started development yet.

    1. A_LINK_IN_TIME says:

I can't wait to beat up Captain Falcon as Ganondorf.

  44. Alessandra says:

I know that this has nothing to do with the Wii U but this looks really nice!:

  45. Hero of Light says:

I’m going to be really ticked off if they end making another stupid toon shaded Zelda game for Wii U.

    1. Subrosian says:

      Grow up.

  46. theonlyzeldafan says:

    fuck the world im dying

  47. imdying says:

i poop my pants im dying

  48. zeldafanocarina says:

a zelda game ad smash bros.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  49. Subrosian says:

Smash Bros. in 2-5 months of release? What are you smoking? They said that development won't even BEGIN on SSB until Kid Icarus is released. And even then, it'll take a long time to make the game unless Sakurai gets a kick-awesome team.

  50. Pikmin 3! Steve the Trooper returns once again!

  51. JGowan says:

One question, if this a confirmed list from Nintendo, why not post a link to it?

  52. treadmills says:

Thank you for any other fantastic post. Where else could anyone get that type of information in such a perfect approach of writing? I’ve a presentation subsequent week, and I am on the look for such information.
